Before I start the story, let me tell you that I have found no references to this story in the epics whatsoever. However, the narration I heard from someone was so hilarious and convincing that I decided to post it here...
Once upon a time...long long ago...when the Pandavas were around...
The Pandavas, smart that they were, devised a method to signal each other, when they wanted some "alone time" with the beautiful Draupadi.
Each time a Pandava brother found her alone, he escorted her to the royal chambers leaving their footwear at the chamber entrance. Let’s just say, two pair of footwear was the equivalent of a "Do Not Disturb" :-) [Me wondering: They could as well have bolted the door...but on second thought....didn't they have doors in those times!!???]
One day, the third Pandava brother Arjun was biding time with Draupadi. That particular day, however, a dog which was hungry, decided that the footwear kept outside a room full of passion is no good!! So, he took a pair of footwear to one corner of the palace and happily chewed on it :-)
That same day, the eldest Pandava brother Yudhisthir got his work done and rushed to the royal chambers. Seeing just a single pair of footwear outside, he rushed inside right upto the bedside. Much to his shock and dismay, not only did he see the bed occupied but also more than he would have liked to see!!
He stormed right out of the chamber and called an emergency meeting to discuss this break in protocol. Soon, they all realized that a dog had been the culprit! At this juncture, Yudhisthir invoked one of his heavenly favors. Since that day, the dog knows only public displays of affection!!!!!
MORAL:
1) If you are a dog, don't even look at royal designs!!!
2) An encrypted signal without integrity can lay your privates bare!!!!
